Twelve years ago, Eric and I spent the month of August making the transition from college into seminary. At different times (as we were still "dating" then), we made the move to Kansas City to attend graduate school. And when I say Kansas City, I don't mean that nice touristy part of town with fountains, shopping malls, and museums... I am talking about living on one of the corners that was frequently highlighted on the television show COPS. ANYWAY... we both moved into our respective cinder-block apartment walls, received our welcome gifts from the school of a plant and "the club" for our the steering wheels of our car, and we were ready to start life.
As Eric was moving into his little apartment, he invited me over in the midst of the moving chaos and in short, presented me with a beautiful bouquet of roses and proposed to start a new life together. WOW. That was twelve years ago this month. TODAY (August 9), we celebrate our eleventh wedding anniversary. I have to tell you, as we are enjoying this day of 85 degree temps in August (this NEVER happens in Missouri), we are remembering that it was not so mild on our wedding day. That said, it truly was a perfect day and we enjoyed every moment of it.
Eleven years. Most days it seems like it hasn't been that long. Other days, well... if you are married, you know how it goes. My dad said it best as he and Mom celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year. He said there were some long days and even some long weeks, but overall, the years went by very fast. Yes, we do understand that! All things considered, it has been a very fast and fabulous 11 years.
Happy Anniversary, Eric!
