A Brave New World

It was a first for us...
Not so much the first time we left the girls...
But the first time we left them to go on VACATION (rather than a work outing).
It was strange. It was odd. It was wonderful!! All of us seemed to get through it without any significant signs of distress -- grandparents included!

So you may be asking... "what did you do on this once-of-a-life-time trip without the children??" Well, Eric and I are celebrating our 10th anniversary this week (August 9), and so in celebration of that, decided to take a few days to get away and remember who we are as a couple. So we dropped the girls off with Eric's family in Springfield and we continued on south to a little bead and breakfast south of Branson. The White River Lodge is a wonderful place to get away and enjoy life at a slower pace. Bill and Becky were great hosts as they opened up their beautiful home us. While at White River, we enjoyed Table Rock Lake by riding the Ducks, shopped at the Branson Landing, and had a fabulous dinner at the Devil's Pool @ Big Cedar Lodge, and simply relaxed. After a couple days and nights at White River, we moved into Branson for a night where we did some shopping, saw a movie, and enjoyed the surroundings. Saturday night was spent in Springfield getting re-acclimated to life and then today (Sunday), we reunited with our girls and headed home. Phew.

So now we are back to doing laundry, straightening the house, and living into our routines. Truly, this is life as I love it best. We feel like we have accomplished much by getting away, just the two of us, for a few days... but we feel like we have accomplished far more these past ten years in making a life for ourselves and now our children. It is all a wonder... but all a blessing at the same time.

Oh... before I forget... as we re-entered life as we know it, Norah continued to achieve new milestones. Tonight was the first night sitting up the highchair. You go, girl!!

Also... here is proof that she, along with the rest of us, are glad to be home after a fun-filled time away (can't you hear the baby sigh?):

Congratulations on your anniversary. I'm so glad you all could find time away for each other - and joy upon returning to what you have built together. Many blessings for the years to come!
