'Twas the Night Before...

'Twas the night before Josie's birthday and all through the house, all the creatures were stirring, even a mouse....

OK...so I really don't know if there is a mouse stirring. And truthfully, I hope there isn't! What I do know is that our family has had one heck of a roller coaster ride this weekend and it didn't end before the whole family, save one, had the stomach flu. This is one of those rare times when I find I am thankful for my 20-hour work weekend -- it kept me out of the germ-fest that is our house (Thanks to our dear friends who helped pick up the pieces and enabled "the show to go on" on a Sunday when our lives fell apart!). So far, hear me knock on wood, I have escaped the virus. That said, we also all have the upper-respiratory "goop." Sigh.

Stomach virus aside, Josie has big plans for her sixth birthday. She gets to have Daddy in for school lunch. She gets to bring in birthday treats in the afternoon. Her big plan for the big sixth birthday also included an appt to get her ears pierced! She has plans for her special supper. She dreams of her birthday dessert. Of course, none of Josie's plans included the stomach flu. It didn't involve being up all night and it certainly didn't involved not being able to enjoy her favorite foods. Bless her heart, she has never had the stomach flu until his weekend. So now she is having to process the fact that her "perfect" birthday may be put on hold for a day or two. You see, not only is her health at issue, in these parts of the world, we are due for quite a weather event tomorrow. Even if her health is restored, some of her birthday events will be put on "wait and see" status based on weather. Poor kid. No one should have to ring in their birthday with the stomach flu!
