Recital Time!

In Josie's world, there is little in life better than dancing on stage at Jesse Hall Auditorium on the campus of University of Missouri. To Josie, it is as good as Broadway. At Josie's level of dancing, she has two recitals a year -- a smaller, more intimate Christmas recital of all the young classes and then this grandiose recital that features the entire dance academy. Josie's dance instructor danced 5 dances last night -- that truly rocked Josie's world!!

Anyway, Josie's class got to wear the hot-pink get-up as they danced to "I Got No Strings" from Pinnochio. A very cute dance that even resulted in audience applause in the middle of the dance for a fancy trick they did during the dance.

The hairpiece looks much better fluffed, doesn't it? If only the costumes came with instructions... maybe then we would avoid the silly "saucer on my head" photos from earlier, oh well.

Recital time was extra fun this year. For dress rehearsal, our friends J.R. and Linda came to see Josie dance, and for the real recital, Nana and Papa Mike came to share in the experience. Judging from Josie's enthusiasm, she will likely take dance again this fall -- hopefully it won't involve a costume she has already grown out of by the time it comes in! (this happens EVERY year... ) So until next year and the next recital... we (read: Josie), lives with the memory of dancing on the "big stage" and counts the months and weeks until she can do it again.
