Mellow Yellow

So there always seems to be "something" happening when kids are involved. If you have kids, you know that when they are infants, there is always some little obstacle to overcome. It doesn't have to be anything major... but just little hurdles that need to be jumped from time to time. For Norah, for today, that hurdle is jaundice. We left the hospital last week knowing that jaundice was an issue... but the billirubin levels were nothing to be too concerned about. Now, at 8 days old, we are keeping much closer tabs on those levels with three blood tests this week. Norah's type of jaundice is the typical newborn jaundice... as oppossed to a more serious version that involves the liver after things have filtered through it. This is good news. But, the fact that Norah's levels are continuing to climb, is not. So we are making sure she eats/drinks a lot and we are keeping close tabs on her diaper happenings. Yes, that means we are talking about poop!! Isn't that what all parents of infants do -- talk about poop?? Anyway... we aren't to the point of needing to use the billilights yet... though I do believe the margin is narrowing as to when that might happen. We go back to Dr. B on Friday for an update and a planning of next steps. Nothing serious... just a hurdle to jump.
FINALLY, the pictures of Norah taken at the hospital are on the hospital website. If you go to http://www.growingfamily.com/webnursery/hospitals/0783/babylist.asp (cut and paste into browser), find Norah's name on 2/20 and then type in our last name as the password, you will get to see her hospital picks... with eyes open and everything!! It was a busy day .. nine babies born -- seven of which were by c-section. Of those seven, five were pre-planned... and two (including ours) were not. It was a very busy day!!
That's it for now. We continue to have lots of good days as Norah is a great sleeper (probably due to the jaundice). Now if only she could become a good eater as well.... that would make us and the doctor VERY happy. All in due time... all in due time. At any rate, we will keep you posted!
