All has been fairly quiet around here -- back into the routines and rhythms of everyday life. Josie is back to school and making some really great strides in learning to read... as a kindergartener! Was it really that long ago that kindergarten was simply for learning letters and numbers? Not so much anymore! Ahh, but Josie loves school, her teacher, and her friends. All this helps to make an environment where she can truly begin to soar in learning. We are SO very proud of her (bragging momma moment). One of her first self-written sentences home included her skills at sounding out words: "We lrnd the wrd AND." I can't tell you how proud I was... but I can tell you I am going to frame that page. It may be full of mistakes, but you say that sentence...go ahead... say it out-loud. She spelled it exactly the way it sounds!
Norah is busy growing as well... more teeth are making their way, she is standing and starting to cruise around furniture, and she has mastered stairs. Yes, our little 11 month old has conquered the stair realm. You see, our girls have several favorite past-times in our house. Josie loves to draw or play dress-up. She also loves to play her Leapster (this is a common position for Josie -- how very "pre-teen").
Norah's favorite past-times include chasing the cat, hoovering cheerios, and climbing. She will climb anything she can. She will climb over pillows, over people, and yes, even the stairs. To explain further, both our girls adore bath time. And these sisters, as many sisters do, bathe together. Usually I get Josie in the tub first so I can wash her hair and get that chore out of the way so Norah can join in on the soap-party that follows. Well, when Norah begins to hear the bath water running, she starts moving heaven and earth to get to that tub. Even if it means climbing 17 stairs to get there. Nothing can stand in her way when it comes to getting in the bathtub with her sister!
I tell you what... we are in no hurry for this child to walk -- she has already proven that she is going to be a child on the move!!
So as I said before... not a lot going on here. We are just enjoying the opportunity to live the everyday one day at a time. What a blessing this little break from the hustle and bustle has been!
